1989 goes 2014

1989 goes 2014. Taylor swift released a music video last week from new album. The song is called “Blank Space” and, believe it or not, has her turning insane in the midst of a relationship break up complete with swinging golf clubs and throwing knives.

The very end was most shocking and questionable. A final caption at the bottom of the screen appeared “Taylor Swift: Blank Space Experience.” This had everyone in wonder for couple days of what it alluded to.

Blank Space Experience is a new free app allowing users to explore the music video mansion. You can follow Taylor, and other characters around the mansion collecting 41 trinkets with details of information such as never-before-seen photos of Taylor’s childhood.

The app also includes a behind the scenes tour of the music video and upcoming tour information. They claim user friendly and just another fun way to engage in Taylor’s life and learn more about her. This app is going to strengthen her fan base even more, if that’s possible.

#DawgsOnTop

Georgia football has more things going for them besides Todd Gurley finally coming back this weekend.

Their social media strategy is on point. They post several instagrams a week on @georgiafootball hyping fans up about upcoming games, announcing SEC players of the week, and spotlighting players. They also highlight players that now play in the NFL with the hashtag #DawgsInTheNFL. It has over 112,000 followers averaging a few thousand likes per post.

The dawgs also have an official Twitter created in June 2011 @FootballUGA with tweets similar to the instagram posts, but more more posts throughout the day. Game days are also full of score updates. They are quick to retweet @SEC or @ESPN when they announce something about UGA or a player of theirs. @FootballUGA has over 116,000 followers from the #DawgNation. They receive hundreds of favorites and retweets per post.

Hype + informative stats keep these Georgia football platforms ahead of the game.

The Magic's in the Band

Recently, Disney World has come out with a new technological device called a MagicBand. This MagicBand wears like a bracelet but is so much more than looks. It amazes me it can do all of this with a single tap:

Enter the theme parks

Check in at FastPass+ entrances

Connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account

Unlock the door of your Disney hotel room

Charge food and merchandise purchase to your hotel room

Visitors who stay at the Disney Resort hotel and Disney World season pass holders receive MagicBands. You have the option of purchasing one at the park or Downtown Disney to use throughout the day for a regular pass, too. Customization and privacy settings are also available!

How Bout Them COWZ?

Famous for their fear of dying, Chick-Fil-A’s cows have been a big hit since 1995 when the advertising slogan was first created by The Richards Group. They have made their way not only to billboards but the to the hearts of all Chick-Fil-A lovers. And from there they have found there way to social media. On Chick-Fil-A’s website between “Company and Careers” and “Kids and Family” lies “Cows.” This headline denotes how important they have become to the face of Chick-Fil-A. So important in fact, they have their own campaign history, gallery, commercials, calendar, merchandise, appreciation day, but most importantly a Facebook and Twitter apart from the Chick-Fil-A Corporation’s own pages.

The Eat Mor Chikin Cowz Facebook page has over 780,000 likes.

The whole page is created and used by the cows themselves. Currently, they are on a road trip across the country. Find out where they are by the hash tag #TravelingCowz. Angus, Sandra, Curlee Sue, and Cal were fortunate enough to be chosen for this excursion. Read all about them on their Facebook page!

Their Twitter @EatMorChikin, created in 2009 has 27.9K followers with 4,714 tweets in the vault.

I don’t know about you, but I appreciate these cows for doing the most and brightening my day. Brighten their day today by just simply visiting the place some of us (would like to) call home and #EatMorChikin.

tweet me then "Meet me at Starbucks"

Starbucks is launching its first global brand campaign this fall called “Meet me at Starbucks.” They believe their “digital-saavy” customers could use Starbucks as a way to connect face-to-face again.

This campaign is sure to create some buzz on the social sphere. It’s not far off from Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke” campaign. Both have the vision of bringing people closer together through getting together--àwith their product.
Has this constantly evolving digital world interrupted interactions, or has it made it easier to interact? With so many different ways to communicate now from 10 second videos on SnapChat to 140 character shout outs on Twitter, social media has made ways of connecting more creative. With that, marketers have gotten more creative in using it to not only enhance family and friendships getting closer but promote their product at the same time.
Starbucks has created a mini-documentary shown on YouTube of days in the life of Starbucks with over 59 in-store interactions filmed across the world. They encourage participants using Instagram to post photos with the hashtag “HowWeMet.” Additional content will be posted on Twitter and Tumblr in the following months.

Recent ads foreshadowing this campaign have pushed the phrase “Sometimes the best way to connect is to get together.” How do we connect nowadays? Through the digital world. I’m convinced social media has not discouraged but encouraged us to get together. We love the ability to share with everyone what we are doing—and that we are doing something—instantly.
So hey friends--- meet me at Starbucks and we’ll share our experience.
